MINNESOTA'S STATE GEM
The Lake Superior agate was designated the official state gemstone in 1969. The Lake Superior agate differs from other agates found around the world in its rich red, orange and yellow coloring. The Lake Superior agate is found throughout northeastern and central Minnesota.

  2. I used to have a rock polisher when I was a kid. My parents got it for me so that I could polish my agates. You had to run the stones through the polisher for a solid month~day and night~to polish them. It was loud and annoying, but the final result was well worth the trouble.
